Join us for a day of horticulture and history as we explore the impact of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden on Brooklyn and its broader legacy for plants and science. Learn about the unique gardens the Brooklyn Botanic Garden has cultivated, the impressive role that “ladies in the laboratory” have played in shaping this scientific work, and the many ways that teachers and students can learn in the Gardens. Brooklyn Connections will share primary sources from the archive and will model activities that can be replicated in the classroom to engage students with the history of science.

Due to overwhelming demand, there will be two events on June 6th, one is for paraprofessionals and one is for classroom teachers. The paraprofessional event will start at Brooklyn Public Library and go to the Botanic Garden after lunch. The classroom teachers will start at the Botanic Garden and move to Brooklyn Public Library after lunch.
