Social Studies, STEM and other cross-disciplinary teachers are invited join us for an immersive look at the evolution of transportation and community as we explore the history of bridges in Brooklyn. Brooklyn Bridge expert and noted author Richard Haw will discuss how these majestic feats of engineering and development have forever changed the landscape of our borough. This workshop provides teachers with practice using primary sources and non-fiction texts across disciplines. Educators will learn techniques for using archival materials to develop new methods for increasing student engagement with local history topics.

NOTE: Brooklyn Connections workshops are intended for educators and school administrators. Priority will be given to K-12 classroom teachers. All others will be accommodated pending availability. Brooklyn Connections is an approved NYSED Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) sponsor. This special accreditation enables educators to utilize Brooklyn Connections professional learning workshops toward fulfilling their mandated 100 hours of approved CTLE credits.
