"Purchase of a Slave in Plymouth Church"

Brooklyn Daily Eagle

On February 5, 1860, Reverend Henry Ward Beecher "auctioned" off a young girl in church to raise money to buy her freedom. The following day this editorial appeared in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle: "Purchase of a Slave in Plymouth Church" (February 6, 1860).
