New England Kitchen at the Brooklyn Sanitary Fair

At the Brooklyn and Long Island Sanitary Fair in 1864, one of the attractions was the "New England Kitchen." Women dressed in colonial costumes and demonstrated the kinds of activities done by women in the years before the American Revolution of 1776. This type of display was also featured at other Sanitary Fairs in the North.

For more about the Sanitary Fair, see Documents 64, 65, 67, and 68.
