This exhibition features work from my latest book, Hans My Hedgehog, as well as Never Take a Shark to the Dentist, The Ant Bully, Things That Are Most in the World and Alphabet Explosion.
Some of my most constant artistic influences are Edward Hopper, Pieter Bruegel, Alfred Hitchcock, David Lynch, Tex Avery, Chris Van Allsburg, Charles Addams, early James Rosenquist, DC and Marvel Comics from the 60s, and illuminated manuscripts.
John Nickle is an accomplished children’s book author and illustrator who is currently illustrating the forthcoming Who Pushed Humpty Dumpty? His most recent book, Hans My Hedgehog, received starred reviews from Kirkus Reviews and Publishers Weekly. His past books were given similar accolades—Alphabet Explosion won an Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Best Book Award and was selected by Amazon and MSNBC as a top picture book in 2006.The Ant Bully was released as a major motion picture by Warner Bros. and Playtone. He has widely exhibited his illustrations, most recently at FIT, Gallery 151 and Sloan Fine Art in New York.
