My Brooklyn A Photo and Essay Contest
Central Library, Grand Lobby
Exhibition Notes
"My Brooklyn" highlights individual memories, thoughts, emotions, joys and hardships to create an intimate portrait of the beloved borough. The exhibition features 20 photographs and essays selected from over 450 entrants of all ages that capture a personalized vision of Brooklyn.
The exhibition consists of winning photography and essays from three different age categories including juvenile (ages 12 and under), young adult (ages 13 through 19) and adult (ages 20 and over). Entries were judged and selected based on creativity, originality and a true representation of the spirit of Brooklyn. The photographs depict scenes from Brooklyn’s past and present in black and white and color. Each essay relates different experiences or ideas with Brooklyn as the common theme.
