'Over Here!' New York City During World War II

Central Library, Foyer Gallery Cases
We Couldn't Have Done It Without Brooklyn

by Lorraine B. Diehl

This exhibition is a physical extension of my book. It is meant to summon a deep sense of nostalgia for the way we were during the war years.

I grew up in Hell's Kitchen when it was a pretty tough neighborhood. As a child I found great drama and romance in the area. All of my work evolves from my love of New York City. The city is always at the center of my books.
