Books for Preschoolers
Song & Rhymes
Over the last decade, we've learned a lot about how young children grow and develop early language and literacy skills. Here are some facts:
- By age six, children understand 13,000 words. Children who are spoken to and read to frequently have larger vocabularies and develop into stronger readers.
- Children who love books are better readers. Reading aloud to preschoolers gives them a love of literature.
- Sharing books with your preschooler lays the foundation for learning to read.
