Tracing its beginning to the Concord Library, which closed because of the construction of the Independent Subway, Crown Heights Library moved, in 1931, to a storefront at 401 Rogers Avenue. The present library, opened in 1958, was built under the Beame plan. In 1992, the library opened a computer center, one of the first in the BPL system.
