  • Looking Back, Moving Forward--Music of the 1940s
    Friday, May 24, 2013 1:00PM
    Dyker Library

Choral Singing: Participants revisit songs that may have been familiar to them at an earlier time in their lives, while working on their individual vocal and collaborative part-singing skills. Along with backgrounds on the songs and their composers, we will discuss historical and cultural aspects of the 1940s. Participants will be invited to share stories of their experiences during these decades. In this workshop, participants will become better singers by improving posture, breathing, abdominal support, and diction, improving music-reading skills, and improving part-singing skills in a supportive social environment.

“This Lifetime Arts Program is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, Westchester Library System, AARP Foundation, American Library Association, New York State Council of the Arts, and the Helen Andrus Benedict Foundation.”
