BROOKLYN PUBLIC LIBRARY (BPL) AND ARCHITECT ENRIQUE NORTEN UNVEIL PLANS TO BUILD DYNAMIC VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS LIBRARY IN DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN
Brooklyn Public Library is creating a bold and precedent-setting Visual and Performing Arts Library that will be a physical and virtual gateway to arts resources of all kinds.
Internationally renowned architect Enrique Norten of TEN Arquitectos will present the iconic design of BPL’s Visual and Performing Arts Library (VPA). The first library in New York City devoted to both the visual and performing arts, the VPA will provide Brooklyn's growing arts community and the general public with free access to arts resources within. Following Mr. Enrique’s presentation, Ginnie Cooper, Executive Director of BPL, will discuss the importance of this project and how it will benefit the communities of Brooklyn and New York City.

To introduce the public to the design of the VPA and discuss the free resources and programs that it will provide for the community.
BPL’s VPA will offer a wealth of traditional as well as virtual information that will serve as a resource for the general public and every established and emerging artist in New York City. Unique in concept, the VPA will house a diverse range of arts spaces, including state-of-the-art reading rooms, galleries, a high-technology auditorium, programming spaces for teens and children, and extensive circulating and reference collections for children, teens, and adults. The design of the building will reflect BPL's innovative open-access orientation to the visual and performing arts. TEN Arquitectos of Mexico City was chosen from a select group of world-renowned architects known for its inventive and conceptual works across the globe.
