Will Offer Free, Fun, Family-Friendly Programs across Brooklyn from January 27 – February 1
Brooklyn, NY – As a part of the annual “Take Your Child to the Library Day” initiative taking place across the country and in Canada on Saturday, February 1, Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) has announced that it will host “Take Your Child to the Library Week” from Monday, January 27 through Saturday, February 1.
In collaboration with The New York City Administration for Children’s Services (ACS), all BPL locations will offer “Take Your Child to the Library Week” programs during this period. Among the many exciting activities taking place are “storytimes,” “Lego and Duplo Time” programs, where children have the opportunity to free-build with different building blocks, and “Explore and Create” programs, where instructors provide materials and offer different craft-building tutorials to children of all ages.
“Now is the perfect time to introduce your child to the incredible range of programs, materials and services available—all for free—at the library,” said Linda E. Johnson, President & CEO of Brooklyn Public Library. “From afterschool homework help and computer access, to crafts, storytimes and concerts, our branches have everything children need to succeed in school, have fun and explore their interests. And with 60 locations throughout the borough, no matter where you and your family live, there is a library close by.”
Events will take place at branches throughout the system. On national “Take Your Child to the Library Day” on February 1, BPL will host family “storytimes” in the morning and/or afternoon at Bay Ridge, Brooklyn Heights, Carroll Gardens, Dekalb, Flatbush, Highlawn, Kings Bay, Jamaica Bay, Kings Highway, Macon Library, Mill Basin, Park Slope, Sunset Park, Ulmer Park and Windsor Terrace libraries.
