Event raises funds for books, materials and programming for all 60 library branches and for branch restoration Post-Sandy
WHAT: On Tuesday, February 5, Brooklyn Public Library will hold its 16th annual “Masquerade Bowl” Gala. The Library’s signature fundraising event will commence with a cocktail reception and awards ceremony at the Wythe Hotel from 6:30 – 8 PM. The festivities will then continue at Brooklyn Bowl, where guests will enjoy live music by celebrated afro-beat band Antibalas, bowling, a live auction, dancing, and dinner catered by Blue Ribbon.
The annual Gala will celebrate Colson Whitehead, acclaimed author of novels Zone One, Sag Harbor and The Intuitionist, among others; Bruce Norris, the Tony- and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright of “Clybourne Park"; and Greg Clayman, Global Digital Strategy for News Corporation.
Gala proceeds will not only provide pivotal funding for books, materials, and free educational and cultural programming at all 60 neighborhood library branches, but will also help to repair the six Library branches that sustained extensive damage during Hurricane Sandy.
