Also scheduled to attend the festival are Borough President Marty Markowitz, Assemblyman Karim Camara, and Councilmember Letitia James.

Brooklyn Youth Flag Day is the product of a broad coalition of community, civic leaders and organizations intended to stimulate arts programs in the high schools and in youth organizations. The Kick off event on Wednesday, June 14th is a Partners Breakfast from 9:00 am to 11:00 am that will be held at the Brooklyn Public Library. Brooklyn Youth Flag Day corresponds to the nation’s observance of Flag Day by celebrating the diverse heritage of Brooklyn’s young people. During three days of festivities, Brooklyn residents will be encouraged to honor the American Flag and the flags, culture and traditions of their countries of origin.

Lead organization for Brooklyn Youth Flag Day is PRIDE Youth Development Agency. Other partners are Brooklyn Public Library, Region Six of the Department of Education and Mr. Markowitz. West Indian-American Day Carnival Association, “18 Mai” Committee, Heart of Brooklyn and Carlos Lezama Archives & Caribbean Cultural Center are also Partner Committee members.
