FREE PRE-GED CLASSES OFFERED AT BROOKLYN PUBLIC LIBRARY THROUGH JANUARY AND FEBRUARY 2005
The Adult Literacy Program at Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) will offer free Pre-GED (General Equivalency Diploma) classes at 9 neighborhood libraries from February to June 2005, with required registration beginning in late January.
"Pre-GED classes help to prepare adult students for success in passing the GED by working on a foundation of basic skills, including reading comprehension, science and mathematics," said Susan O'Connor, Manager of Literacy Programs at BPL. "The Pre-GED classes build on the success of our Adult Literacy Program by focusing on each learner's particular needs, current skills and individual goals," she added.
In addition to the weekly 6 hours of classroom instruction, students will be invited to take part in BPL's SkillsTutor project, a resource that allows students to access distance learning.
