ESOL CLASSES

Brooklyn Public Library's ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes provide free lessons in English, taught by certified and experienced teachers for Americans and others whose first language is not English. The Library also offers ESOL conversation groups led by specially trained volunteers. ESOL classes and ESOL conversation groups are held at Central Library and at several neighborhood libraries throughout the borough.

PRE-GED ESSAY WRITING CLASS

All learners in this program are English speaking, older than 17 years of age and reading below a pre-GED level. The program is geared toward students in need of a part-time, flexible program. SUMMER READING CALENDAR 2005

As part of a citywide Summer Reading effort, BPL is providing all kinds of books, events, programs and fun for babies and toddlers, school-age children, children with special needs, teens and even adults. Kids, teens and adults can find suggested reading lists as well as special programs and incentives at their neighborhood library, designed to keep everyone interested and excited about reading all summer long.

Power 105.1 FM Party

The Power 105.1 Street Team will spin hip hop and R&B tunes on the street, offer free give-aways, and encourage kids and teens to sign up for summer reading at two BPL Locations:
