Summer Reading ’09: Get the Block Party Started!
We’re celebrating Summer Reading’s kickoff Brooklyn-style with a “block party” right on our Plaza. Enjoy live performances by Brooklyn's own Care Bears on Fire, as well as music courtesy of the library's band, Lost in the Stacks. See live Capoiera and jazz/ballet dancing, enjoy storytime, balloon fun, arts and crafts, face painting and other fun, free activities for the whole family.

Plaza Concert: Katia Cadet
Katia Cadet, also known as Baby Kat, is a singer and a prolific songwriter and a vocal producer. Haitian-born Cadet delivers Zouk Soul and R&B in French, English and creole. She earned a Grammy nomination for her song 911, which Mary J. Blige recorded. She has also written songs for Wyclef Jean. Her jazz tune "L'amour Une Aventure" was featured in Rush Hour 3.
