New Hours of Service at Brooklyn Public Library

(Brooklyn, NY) September 11, 2009 - Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) is pleased to continue full six-day service at all neighborhood libraries. In addition, four libraries will now offer seven-day service and several neighborhood libraries will offer additional evening hours.

"With students returning to school, we are excited that we will again be able to offer extended service at some of our most utilized locations in the borough. We'd like to extend our sincerest gratitude to the Mayor and the City Council for ensuring funding for six day service" said Dionne Mack-Harvin, Executive Director of Brooklyn Public Library.

Beginning Sunday, September 13, BPL will offer year-round Sunday service at Central and Kings Highway Libraries. McKinley Park and Borough Park Libraries will also be open on Sundays from 1-5PM, from September - June.

Starting September 17, sixteen neighborhood libraries will offer Thursday evening hours from 1-8PM in addition to the evening service hours they currently provide: Bay Ridge, Brighton Beach, Dyker, Flatlands, Gravesend, Greenpoint, Homecrest, Kensington, Kings Bay, McKinley Park, Midwood, New Utrecht, Ryder, Sheepshead Bay, Sunset Park and Ulmer Park. BPL plans to offer an additional evening of service at all neighborhood libraries as funding permits.

Additionally, Flatbush Library reopened on Monday, September 8, after completion of a roof replacement project.
