SHOW YOUR BROOKLYN SPIRIT BY PARTICIPATING IN BROOKLYN PUBLIC LIBRARY'S 2007 MY BROOKLYN CONTEST

January 22, 2007

From Greenpoint to Greenwood, Share What Brooklyn Is To You!

Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) invites aspiring and accomplished artists and writers of all ages throughout the borough and beyond to submit entries to its annual "My Brooklyn" photo and essay contest. Contestants who capture the spirit of Brooklyn in words and images have a chance to win a $500.00, $300.00 or $100.00 U.S. savings bond and the opportunity to have their work displayed in BPL’s Central Library’s gallery space. Co-sponsored by Con Edison since 2002, previous winning essays and photographs have documented Brooklynites’ poignant emotions and memories of Brooklyn.

Open to people of all ages, My Brooklyn's three different age categories are children (12-years-old and younger), young adult (13-years-old through 19-years-old) and adult (20-years-old and older). The winning submissions will be selected by a panel of prominent Brooklyn authors and artists. Entries will be judged based on creativity, originality and a true representation of Brooklyn’s spirit.

The deadline for all submissions is March 30, 2007, 5 PM. Complete submissions information and an electronic entry form are available on BPL’s website at http://www.brooklynpubliclibrary.org.

My Brooklyn is made possible through generous support from Con Edison.
