Free Summer Concert Series at Brooklyn Public Library

Brooklyn, NY, May 13, 2008 – Hot time, summer in the city. This summer, there’s a new venue for outdoor concerts – Brooklyn Public Library’s Central Library! Summer Saturday afternoons will be hot, with bands for all kinds of music fans on our newly-renovated plaza.

May 31, 2 pm
Antietam and The Ladybug Transistor
Two legendary groups of New York Indie rock perform on the Plaza. Antietam’s latest release Opus Mixtum received 4 star reviews from SPIN, Uncut, and Sound & Vision Magazines. The Ladybug Transistor delivers retro pop with a languorous sound.

June 7, 2 pm
Folklore Urbano and the Mariachi Academy of New York
Folklore Urbano blends Colombian roots music with jazz and world beat rhythms. The Mariachi Academy of New York is the next generation of romanticos.

June 14, 2 pm
DJ Kool Herc and Little Jackie
The founder of Hip Hop and break-beat DJing brings his crates. Little Jackie blends the old-school R&B sound with a quirky hybrid of hip-hop and pop
