Night of the Living Dead
George A. Romero's classic horror film is credited with inventing the character of the zombie in popular culture and the zombie movie genre. A group of survivors try to ride out a siege of undead monsters, trapped in a Pennsylvania farmhouse. Shot inexpensively and extremelycontroversial upon its release, it is terrifying and raw, as shocking and spooky as the day it was filmed. (Black & white, 1968.) Perfect for Halloween!
