Friends Groups

Become a Friend today

Friends groups at Brooklyn Public Library are volunteer, library advocacy groups active in Brooklyn's neighborhoods and also in the Central Library at Grand Army Plaza.

Friends of Brooklyn Public Library groups help support youth services, job search assistance, public programs and internet access—all part of the Library's free and essential services.

At present, there are 12 active Friends groups:

Brooklyn Heights Kings Bay
Carroll Gardens Literacy
Clinton Hill Midwood
Cortelyou Mill Basin
Gerritsen Beach Park Slope
Greenpoint Sunset Park

These libraries are currently in the process of starting new groups:

Bay Ridge Eastern Parkway
Bedford Kings Highway
Brower Park Macon
Central Red Hook

They can always use another willing heart to help plan and carry out projects to support Brooklyn Public Library.

As a Friend of BPL, you will play a vital role in fundraising, promoting and advocacy efforts for your Library and neighborhood.

Plus you’ll receive exclusive Friends perks, as well as the satisfaction of volunteering for Brooklyn’s key community resource!

Friends Groups are not limited to the lists above; if you are interested in becoming a Friend of Brooklyn Public Library. You can contact your neighborhood library or email friends@brooklynpubliclibrary.org for more information.
