Thanks for your interest in BPL's 2024 Teen Writing Contest!
Please take some time to read our guidelines before submitting your entry as there are some changes from previous years. Teens in all NYC boroughs are eligible to enter. Participants must be in grades 6 through 12, and may submit no more than two items. Be sure to edit work carefully before final submission.
Word limits:
- Poetry: up to 500 words
- Prose: up to 2,500 words
If selected as a winner or finalist:
- You agree to have your work edited by judges for final compilation and publication in our Teen Writing Journal and on our website.
- You will be asked to read a portion of your work in a celebratory reception to be held on June 10.
