POET BIO
Hala Alyan is the author of the novel Salt Houses, winner of the Dayton Literary Peace Prize and the Arab American Book Award, and a finalist for the Chautauqua Prize. She is also the author of five highly acclaimed collections of poetry, including The Twenty-Ninth Year. She lives in Brooklyn with her family, where she works as a clinical psychologist and professor at New York University.
MODERATOR BIO
Ashley Mabbitt is an American poet. Her work explores such topics as art, consciousness, family, silence, and the stillness of time. Her poems have appeared in The Ekphrastic Review, Emerge, Plume, Ravensperch, and the South Florida Poetry Journal. She lives in Brooklyn, New York, where she works for an academic publisher. Ashley’s first full-length book manuscript, titled An Echo—Stacked, Framed, Once-Familiar—Blooms, was completed in 2021. She is currently writing a new chapbook.
